The Special World of Video Blogging

Originally, the definition of blogging pretty much dealt with text-based blogs only. With time, came photo blogs, and now video blogs.

In many ways, video blogging has a lot of advantages over text-based blogging. Therefore, it is little wonder that this new technology is catching on all over the globe.

Video blogs, like many dynamic media, such as television, very effectively grab the attention of web surfers. People are much more likely to become excited about the dynamic content of a video blog than they are likely to find a written posting very thrilling. The more enthusiastic viewers are about a site, the quicker the word of mouth spreads, and the more traffic the site will get.

It seems inevitable in our world of images and graphics that this should be so.

Of course, there are plenty of disadvantages to video blogging that can be mentioned as well.

Hosting a v-blog, as they are sometimes called, requires quite a bit of server space. This can make it difficult to get started, especially if you are using a free blog. It also takes more time to process and upload a video file than it does to dash off a quick bit of text. This means that managing and regularly updating a video blog can be quite a bit of work.

In addition to the time constraint on the blogger, web surfers themselves sometimes grow frustrated with the slow loading times of the files on many video blogs.

In the long run, whether you opt for a video blog or not depends on what kind of subject matter you want to cover, and how much time you can devote to video blogging.

Before you decide to pursue a video blog, you might want to consider if there is an easier way for you to get your message across.

It is possible for those into video blogging to also become involved in blogging for cash. Some good tips on the subject are found in Rob Benwell's ebook, Blogging to the Bank.
